Apparently I spoke too fast. Those two dogs in the picture below did not act like sweethearts today. They were vicious animals that got into TWO fights today. I've never seen them fight before and Chef has always been the one to deal with an outbreak between the two of them. It happened multiple times when they were first introduced and then another time while I was at work the other day.
Otherwise, they don't fight. Except for today. Twice. Seemingly out of no where! And it's the little dog that seems to instigate it. Yes, that would be my dog, Millie. The first time it was in the house and the second time it was outside. They both have a few scrapes and there was a little bit of blood shed, but there's no obvious injury.
It's just so scary to see your animals potentially trying to hurt each other. I know that I'm probably doing it all wrong with the screaming and trying to push them apart with a shovel...
But to see the big dog pin the little one down with her huge mouth on the back of her neck, and then see my little dog try to bite the big dog's throat out and when I finally get them apart and Millie (the little dog) has blood on her snout and a bunch of Penny's hair in her mouth... It's quite disturbing. Seriously.
And they still want to go back for more!
Excuse me for being a drama queen, but I still feel shaken up an hour later. I really, really, really wish Chef didn't work out of town Monday through Friday. I wish he was home to deal with this and didn't have to give me instructions on how to deal with this over the phone. They see him as more of an authoritative figure (his voice isn't as high pitched) and he handles the situation so much better. He doesn't get shaken up.
Damn dogs.
Any advice on how to deal with dogs when they fight?

Wow! That would unsettle me, too! I'm glad they're okay for the most part though.
Oh dear, that is distressing. I've never had dogs but this is one of the reasons I'm a little scared to get another cat, as much as I want to have one for Rose's company, the thought of her turning vicious on another animal or vice versa just scares me too much :(
Ugh. My dad's dog and my dog hate each other. We've been keeping them apart because I'm afraid they'll hurt each other. I hate it :(
